Welcome to The Cedars School
The Cedars School is a special school for children who have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) with a primary need of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) difficulties. For a large number of our pupils, these difficulties co-occur with other areas of need, including autism, speech, language and communication needs and ADHD.
The school is located in extensive, wooded grounds in Cranford, which lies in the London Borough of Hounslow.
Children are taught in classes with a teacher and at least one teaching assistant. The school recruits, trains and deploys staff to best meet the needs of our pupils. Staff are supported by therapists who are part of the school staff team.
Children are taught through an adapted curriculum based on the National Curriculum, which is differentiated to meet the wide range of abilities and needs of the children who attend the school. Children are also encouraged to take part in a wide range of visits, sporting events, clubs and opportunities that build upon and support both academic and social skills.
Whilst many of our children are not drawn from the immediate local community, the school has excellent links with parents and carers, with many opportunities provided to attend the school for performances, open days and other events. The school plays a full and active part in our local community and has close links with local organisations, businesses and community groups. Our Governing Body plays an active role in school life and supports the school's links with the wider community.
If you feel that your child would benefit from attending the school, you should contact the London Borough of Hounslow's Special Educational Needs team in the first instance.
