SEND Information
SENCO - Lisa Welch
All pupils currently attending The Cedars School have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are in the process of statutory assessment. Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) is the primary area of need for pupils attending The Cedars, and many pupils also have identified needs in one or more of the other broad areas of SEND.
Pupils may have additional needs relating to communication and interaction, cognition and learning, sensory and/or physical needs. Some pupils also have diagnosed or emerging neurodevelopmental needs, including autism and ADHD.
At The Cedars, we recognise that every pupil has a unique profile of strengths, needs, experiences and starting points. Our provision is therefore personalised to individual pupils and informed by their EHCP, assessment information, professional advice and ongoing observation.
It is our intention to provide every child with the best possible education within a safe, supportive and stimulating environment. We strive to promote self-worth, confidence and respect so that every pupil can make progress and achieve their potential.
Central to our approach is equality of opportunity throughout the school. All pupils are supported to participate fully in the life and curriculum of the school, and reasonable adjustments are made where required to remove barriers to participation.
Through the commitment and dedication of our staff, working in partnership with pupils, parents and carers, professionals and governors, we aim to provide an education of the highest quality that enables every pupil to thrive.
