The Cedars Primary School

Welcome to The Cedars Primary School

The Cedars Primary School is a special needs school for children who have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) with a primary need of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) difficulties. For a large number of our pupils these difficulties co-occur with other areas of need including autistic spectrum condition, speech, language and communication needs and ADHD.

The school has places for up to 70 children and is located in extensive, wooded grounds in Cranford, which lies in the London Borough of Hounslow.

Children are taught in classes with a teacher and at least one teaching assistant. The school recruits, trains and deploys staff to best meet the children's needs. Staff are supported by therapists who are part of the school staff team.

Children are taught through schemes of work that follow the National Curriculum. The National Curriculum is differentiated to meet the wide range of abilities of children that attend the school. Children are also encouraged to take part in a wide range of visits, sporting events, clubs and opportunities that build upon and support both academic and social skills.

Whilst many of the children are not drawn from the immediate local community, the school still has excellent links with parents and carers with many opportunities provided to attend the school for performances, open days and other events. The school plays a full and active part in our community and has close links with the local church, retirement home and local businesses. This wide range of links is represented in the Governing Body who play an active role in school life.

If you feel that your child would benefit from attending the school then you should contact the special needs department at the London Borough of Hounslow in the first instance.
